Frankenhuis Fleece
Frankenhuis is a company in textile recycling for more than 100 years. They are collecting and processing industrial and post consumer waste. The main processing is effilochage, in which fabrics are cut and torn into fibres and yarn-end. This product is used in many (traditional) application like non-wovens for noise reduction, thermal insulation, carpet-industry, mattresses and furniture. Frankenhuis is always looking at new opportunities and has a good track record in product innovation.
Frankenhuis Fleece main activity is in the field of recovering fibres from post-industrial and post-consumer waste. The recovered fibres are sold to third parties or transferred into a range of products of which insulation materials for building and automotive applications is most important. By participating in the project, Frankenhuis Fleece will realise the undisturbed supply of sorted textiles (mono-materials or known mixtures) of a certain colour. Frankenhuis Fleece considers this as a opportunity to produce a higher quality of fibres, which can be transferred into higher added value products in markets that cannot be served with the present quality of recovered fibres (mixtures of materials and colours).
Frankenhuis Fleece has since long been looking after upgrading the quality. Frankenhuis Fleece was coordinator of the Identitex project and is since then been looking after partners which could form the chain in order realize this goal. Frankenhuis Fleece is one of the partners in the Jeans for Jeans project.
